
Astrid Sims is a filmmaker, painter, and multidisciplinary creator from New Orleans. She is currently pursuing her BFA in Film at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she is shaping a distinctive voice as both a director and writer. Her work has earned her television credits in directing and writing, and she has contributed to a number of short films, taking on roles ranging from production designer to 1st AC. This breadth of experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking process and a collaborative spirit that carries into every project.
As an artist with Eternal Seeds, a nonprofit in New Orleans dedicated to cultivating creativity and cultural expression, Astrid not only develops her own practice but also works with youth to nurture their artistic voices. Her films and paintings often explore spirituality, memory, identity, and Black life. Rooted in her upbringing in New Orleans, Astrid creates art that is personal yet expansive, weaving stories that honor her community while resonating with audiences everywhere.
